These unique, oil on canvas, paintings are solely exclusive to The Third Step & are available in limited edition reproduction prints. Gerard Morris is known for his mastery of drawing & painting & the six dogs, presented to you by The Third Step, are finely painted oil on canvas.

The Artist's methods on these particular paintings include painting with the highest quality oil paint on hand stretched cotton duck canvas. The canvas is first prepared, after stretching onto a solid wooden pine frame, with a coat of boiled rabbit glue. This will seal the surface of the canvas & tighten the woven fibers, it is now ready for the first of three coats of white
ground, a very fine smooth oil based paint with a chalk ground. The paint used, in the finished work, is Old Holland Classic, which is made in Windmills in Holland . Using traditional methods, master blenders mix cold pressed natural linseed oil & ground & graded pure pigment, this creates a superior luscious, vibrant & highly permanent product. The use of these traditional methods & materials, combine with the unique & skillful rendering of these breeds of dogs, have not altered since the early Renaissance & GM continues to use a method of creating images on canvas not changed since their invention by Titian in Florence in the mid 16 Century.
